If you've ever wondered what goes into creating your own lip balm, you've come to the right place! We're going to show you the simple art of lip balm making!

Both fun and empowering, you can create your very own skincare products in your home kitchen for yourself, friends and family - they make awesome handmade gifts!

When you know how to make your own lip balms, you have the freedom to create all sorts of scents and colours! You can add a variety of essential oils into your formulation, such as orange, lemon, coffee, peppermint and many more! You can also add in mica powders, or other natural colourants, to achieve subtle tints or full-blown colour! Have a play around with your creativity!

This release is our very first DIY project in an indefinite series, so be sure to subscribe to our mailing list to receive future DIY projects, like our upcoming Mocha Lip Butter recipe!

This Simple Lip Balm recipe is self-preserving - because it doesn't contain water or aqueous ingredients.

For this skincare recipe, and many others, you will need a double-boiler. This can be achieved by placing a heatproof bowl in a saucepan of water over a low heat. A double-boiler is a gentler way of heating and melting your heat-sensitive ingredients.

It's worthwhile investing in an infrared thermometer and a decent set of kitchen scales that can measure down to 0.01g if you're going to be making your own skincare regularly.

Make sure all of your equipment is sanitized before and after use. Also ensure to avoid contaminating your lip balms while you're working by keeping all water and condensation out of your bowl.
