How To Get Rid Of Blackheads And Tighten Pores Naturally

Updated: Aug 18, 2022

Blackheads are the result of your pores being clogged up by your skin's natural oils and waxes, dead skin cells, pollution and bacteria. Sounds lovely, doesn't it?!

While your pores will always be somewhat visible, because they're a structural part of your epidermis, they don't have to stand out or cause self-consciousness with these simple solutions that you can do at home!

The first way to eliminate blackheads is to wash the skin thoroughly and effectively. Below are some DIY recipes to cleanse with:

Two-Step Face Wash

STEP 1:

50mL Coconut Oil

20 drops Tea Tree Oil

Coconut oil is naturally high in salicylic acid which breaks down the excessive oils built up on the skin.

Cleansing your face first with this solution helps to break down the "plugs" that form at the opening of your pores and remove dirt and bacteria from the sebaceous filaments.

Use a soaked cotton and massage all around your face for 2-3 minutes, focusing on problem areas. No need to rinse before second step.

STEP 2:

1/4 cup Apple Cider Vinegar

2 tsp Lemon Juice

5 drops Lavender Oil

With the ingredients mixed together in a bowl, wash face and neck with solution for 1-2 minutes. Rinse thoroughly with warm water and then quickly with cold water.

Tomato and Clay Face Mask

1 Ripe Tomato

2 Tbsp Bentonite Clay

Tomatoes are high in salicylic acid, like Coconut Oil, and are excellent at removing the stubborn blockages from the opening of your pores too! Mixed with Bentonite Clay which is super-absorbent and draws impurities out from the skin, this mixture will surely assist in managing your blackhead situation.

Mix the Tomato and Bentonite Clay well and wash face in a circular motion. Repeat 2-3 times for fast results!

While we're at it, this astringent spritz solution is amazing at giving a refreshing, pore-cleansing pick-me-up! Check it out:

Astringent Solution

1/4 Cup Apple Cider Vinegar

1/4 Cup Aloe Vera Juice

1/4 Cup Witch Hazel

5 Drops Lemon Oil

5 Drops Tea Tree Oil

Mix these ingredients into a spritz bottle and spray face and neck generously after cleansing to give a hydrated, firm feeling!

Store in the fridge and use within 2 weeks.

We're not trying to parent you here, but... obviously, looking after yourself in general will assist you in avoiding blackhead break-outs too, including:

  • Getting enough good quality sleep

  • Drinking enough water

  • Eating healthy, nutritious meals

  • Avoiding excessive sugar intake

  • Exercising regularly
